Continuous School Improvement can be the engine for school transformation.
- Continuous School Improvement is school-centered problem solving. There are many variations on the school improvement process. Some are more complex than others. However, they generally fit the model of plan > do > study > act.
- The goals developed through a robust CSI process provide a framework to prioritize resources and align effort. Schools that engage in continuous improvement generally also have a leadership structure to facilitate communication about the improvement work.
- The problem-solving process that is a part of Continuous Improvement is a generative process. Initial attempts at school improvement planning tend to focus on small changes and/or changes that are peripheral to the core work of schooling; however, little ideas inevitably lead to larger ideas, especially if there is early success.
